On a prominent corner of Last Chance Gulch, Farmers State Bank envisioned more than just a branch – they sought to create a destination that blends commerce, community, and culture. In partnership with Jackson Contractors Group, the 12,000 square foot complex was designed to surprise and delight, offering Helena a space where banking meets social connection.
At the heart of the design is a central glass atrium, a bright gathering space that opens onto patios and connects seamlessly to the bank and its neighboring tenants through oversized overhead doors. Inside, a two-story brick lobby welcomes guests with bold personality: a preserved antique vault and custom teller pods designed in full steampunk style create a whimsical yet refined centerpiece. Exposed structural elements and inventive material choices emphasize the theme, highlighting the mechanics of construction while crafting an immersive environment.
Beyond banking, the site embraces community with two outdoor gathering areas. A food truck pavilion energizes the main entry, while the atrium patio, framed by a coffee shop and a dram shop, buzzes with activity throughout the day. The result is a place where transactions and conversations intertwine, offering Helena a steampunk-inspired destination that elevates the everyday banking experience.
