To create its new corporate headquarters in Billings, Montana, Kampgrounds of America (KOA) entrusted A&E Design with the task of capturing its mission of “connecting family and friends to the outdoors and each other.”

The resulting design approach, the culmination of extensive collaboration with stakeholders, celebrates KOA’s rich history and bright future. It envisions the headquarters as a “found object” that blends seamlessly with the rolling hills, rimrocks, and grass plains of its natural backdrop. The campus boasts native landscaping, a spacious patio with a welcoming fire pit for outdoor gatherings, and expansive windows that provide uninterrupted views of the stunning surroundings. Inside, high-performance and highly versatile workspaces promote connection and wellbeing. Mechanical systems integrated through a raised floor system ensure adaptability to future needs. Meticulous energy modeling and daylight software ensured maximum comfort through ventilation and climate control.
