The Billings Limited Army Aviation Support Facility (LAASF) marks a significant milestone for the Montana National Guard as the first building of the Billings Readiness and Innovation Campus. At 56,145 square feet, the facility establishes a strong visual and functional presence in Billings, designed to serve as both a community resource and a recruitment catalyst.
Strategically located, the LAASF expands the Guard’s ability to provide critical aviation support across Eastern Montana, Northern Wyoming, and the Western Dakotas – offering vital rescue and response services from rugged mountain terrain to expansive river systems. As the initial structure on this evolving campus, the facility was carefully designed for adaptability, accommodating future campus growth, integration with the airport, and the flexibility to support evolving aircraft types. Pursuing LEED Silver certification, the project incorporates advanced energy strategies, including heat recovery systems and provisions for an all-electric infrastructure. This forward-thinking approach ensures the facility meets current operational demands while remaining prepared for the National Guard’s ever-changing mission and sustainability goals.
