More than a dining hall, this new facility is a gathering place that celebrates community, culture, and the spirit of the University of Montana. Rising on Ryman Mall beside the iconic Grizzly statue, the 44,000-square-foot building anchors student life at the heart of campus.
The design embraces its setting. Expansive glass walls frame views of Mount Sentinel and the storied “M,” while outdoor seating and a two-level deck invite students to connect with nature and one another. A two-sided indoor-outdoor fireplace offers warmth year-round, creating a welcoming hub that is as much about belonging as it is about dining.
Born from the Student Life Master Plan, the new facility replaces the beloved Food Zoo with a space that matches the quality and diversity of meals served within. Its central location along the residence life corridor ensures accessibility, while its design strengthens recruitment, retention, and the shared pride of UM students and alumni alike. With thoughtful planning and purposeful design, the dining hall has become a cornerstone of campus life – a place where the Griz community gathers daily to share food, conversation, and tradition.
