Gallatin Hall: A home for upperclassmen.

Montana State University envisioned a residence hall that balanced independence with community, creating a living environment tailored for upperclassmen. The team designed Gallatin Hall as a four-story, suite-style residence offering two-, three-, and four-bedroom layouts to meet a variety of student housing needs. Completed as the newest residence hall in 15 years, Gallatin Hall completed the Headwaters Complex quad and was fittingly named for the Gallatin River, one of the Missouri’s three great tributaries.

The building’s design embraces both connection and sustainability. Shared kitchens, dining areas, and lounges foster community while private suites provide space for rest and retreat. The fourth-floor sky lounge captures sweeping views of the Bridger Mountains, offering students an inspiring backdrop for study or socializing. On the east end, a glass façade creates a beacon of light and openness, strengthening ties between campus life and the surrounding landscape.

Gallatin Hall achieved LEED® Gold certification, underscoring its commitment to sustainable design and living. More than a residence, it stands as a home away from home where students can thrive academically, socially, and personally.
