The design of Uberbrew transformed a historic warehouse in Billings, Montana, into a lively gastropub. Inspired by its existing, industrial atmosphere, the design emphasizes the original space’s unique characteristics, showcasing exposed brick and massive, timber trusses. The interior uses a variety of factory-inspired materials to create a unique environment of contrasting elements. Distressed wood, metal, and concrete blend with modern furnishings to establish an edgy, distinctive appeal. The existing structure’s raw essence is accentuated through utilitarian details, such as concrete table tops, Edison style light bulbs, and custom metal casework.

The revitalization of a forgotten district
As part of a larger effort to restore a neglected area of downtown Billings, the design of Uberbrew played a critical, civic role in the renewal of a dilapidated neighborhood. Hidden for years by a small retail storefront, the dormant warehouse proved to be the perfect structure for a transformative adaptive reuse project.
A social affair
Situated in the center of downtown, the urban brewery is designed for social gathering. Equipped with a professional sound system, the space accommodates live music and entertainment, in addition to a state-of-the-art brewing facility set up to not only brew beer for patrons, but also bottle beer for distribution.
An influential element
of downtown culture
Vital to the appeal of downtown, Uberbrew serves as one of nine sites along Billings’ Walkable Brewery District Tour, a 1.5-mile route showcasing six breweries, two distilleries, and a cider house for the enjoyment of locals and tourists alike.
